Fear And Psychic Tools

(An excerpt from the upcoming book De-mystifying Mysticism )

Before beginning a discussion of psychic tools and some of the myths and fears that often come attached to them, we should first examine what psychic tools are.

 What are psychic tools?

 Basically, anything that helps you let go of your logical mind and tap into your intuitive side, allowing a connection to spirit is considered a “psychic tool”. These include but are not limited to: Pendulums, Tarot Cards, Runes, Tea Leaves, Ouija Boards, Crystals, Mystical Symbols or even a branch from a tree, basically anything can be a “Psychic Tool”.

That being said, intuition can be expanded by a variety of means with or without tools. However, tools are a means to focus, channel and develop your intuition and connection to spirit. Personally, I like to look at them as both training wheels and valuable items to be kept in your psychic or healing toolbox to be taken out as each situation calls for.

Before you begin using psychic tools there are two questions you should ask yourself:  

If you have good intent, want the highest good for those around you, and are seeking to improve and release negative behaviors, the universe is going to make sure that you have a range of those energies around you, incarnated or not. On the flip side, if you are negative, are constantly trying to divine information from your psychic tools that is of an obtrusive, self-serving (as opposed to self-improving) or of a prying nature, if you are gossipy, suspicious or allow yourself an excess of fear, you can bet that you are sending a signal out to the universe saying that you want MORE of those vibrations, not less. Quite simply, you find what you seek, or, expect to find. In the famous Quantum Physics Wave/Particle duality experiments, when light was tested to see if it behaved like a wave, it behaved like a wave, when light was tested to see if it behaved as a particle, the light behaved as a particle, changing itself to fit the intention of the experiment. The power of your intent is what is really running your reality. As the universe sends you more and more proof and validation of what you are asking for or, what you expect to find, the more you get; positive or negative.

There is one psychic tool that seems to attract controversy more than any of the others mentioned: Ouija boards. Personally, I think it boils down to a simple matter of numbers. It seems like there are a higher percentage of people attracted to the Ouija Board for the “psychic thrill seeking” aspect. Naturally, this tends to invite a kind of lower entity. Just as in the incarnated mortal world, there are as many or more varieties of energy in the spirit world; those that like to gossip, those that like to start rumors, those who are themselves frightened but haven’t achieved a capacity to communicate beyond that fear, those that are mischievous and want to start something just for the power trip or those that are positive, expansive, empowering, helpful, joyful and light. Again, you attract energy that matches your INTENT. If you are approaching The Ouija Board or any tool for that matter, with a sneaky, gossipy, prying energy, or one filled with fear, you can bet that that’s the kind of energy that will be coming back through. Your spirit guides have your best interest at heart. But they also allow you to make your own decisions. After all, we operate in a free will universe. Don’t be surprised if they step out for a cup of coffee and a bagel while you go on your psychic joyride, hoping that you’ll snap out of it before getting too intoxicated with sensationalist psychic information. They’ll be right back when you get your head and intention focused in a more positive direction. I find that this kind of psychic exploration is kind of like reading The Enquirer; little bits of truth here and there but mostly doctored up photos of things that don’t really exist. Sometimes it’s “all in the spirit of fun” but sometimes you actually wreck the car. Check your intention. Plain and simply; Intention equals Results.

Remember, it is your intent that counts the most

Your intent applies to how effectively you utilize ALL psychic tools.

Protection and Fear

 Just as fear attracts more fear, the more positive you are and the more you seek light; the more natural protection you have. The more you are in a state of fear that you have to protect yourself at every moment, the more you attract a need to be protected. In essence, you are getting what you expect to find, the universe is giving you what you appear to be asking for: a reason to be protected. I am not implying that you throw caution to the wind, I am simply saying that being in a state of fear only serves to cripple yourself further in more fear. Instead of saying, “I have to protect myself from all the scary icky sticky monsters that are coming to get me” try saying, “I am always protected and safe”. You will be amazed at how your perception changes and therefore your reality. You will BE protected and safe.

 Keep it Light

 As souls, we encompass a complex range of energy throughout our lives. As much as we would like to be, we are not always in that perfect, wise, expansive all-knowing, non-judgmental place of light. If we were, we probably wouldn’t be here still learning. But please, don’t WAIT to be perfect to start your journey. Forgive yourself for not being “perfect” all the time, realize that you are PERFECT for RIGHT NOW, set your intention to operate from a place of love and light and release the fear that stops you from moving forward on your path of self-discovery.

Letting the Pieces Come In

(An excerpt from the upcoming book De-mystifying Mysticism)

David and I were traveling this past December visiting family and seeing clients as part of a “working” holiday. Over the course of several days family and friends popped in to visit. One particular man came over two or three different times. I kept seeing a wispy ethereal spirit that appeared to be hanging around him. The name Angelina or Angelique kept coming in but would quickly shift to “Angela”. So I just kept changing it back to “Angelique” in my head. I guess I wanted the name to be more exotic; not just plain old “Angela”.

Every time I saw this man, my LOGIC would argue with my intuition to TELL him about this wonderful spirit that was hanging out with him. BUT, my intuition was telling me to HOLD BACK!!! It just didn’t FEEL like it was mine to convey. It didn’t FEEL like he was asking on a soul level for this information. Something was sticking every time I thought about relaying this information. So I resolved my self to a feeling that this must be for my KNOWING only. 

We traveled to the coast a few days later to meet a client for a Past Life Regression session. Normally when we work with Past Life Regression clients, we do guide connection first. David will bring the person into a deep state of hypnosis and I will go into a trance state with the client to aid energetically where needed and to pick up additional pieces for them. As I observed these guides coming to meet her I became aware of the spirit I had seen a week before. She described this guide enter the room as a very wispy ethereal spirit. I smiled as I recognized her energy. As this was taking place, David had her ask this guide what her name was. OF COURSE the guide’s name was “Angela”!

At last (or so I thought) all the pieces had come in.

I was glad I had not followed the “ego” impulse to tell that man about this spirit that (I thought) was watching him. It wasn’t attached to him at all. I just happened to receive an awareness of her at exactly the same time he was around. If I had just spouted off my information and not followed my intuition to wait, the man may have been confused, scared or just not ready for that sort of information, especially because it wasn’t his information.

Simply by booking a session, the client opens a channel energetically and gives “permission” for us to be let into his or her energy field to receive psychic information anytime before and during their actual session. We experience these through various ways that seem to vary with each client’s needs and personality. It could come through a physical or emotionally empathic body indication. It could be a feeling, an experience, a clairvoyant vision, a dream or otherwise. Patience is definitely something to practice when waiting for all of the pieces to come in to solidify the information. Trying to analyze the information prematurely just confuses the end result.

With Gifts of the Spirit comes responsibility.

If you are not sure of some piece of information, let it go for the moment and let the rest of the pieces come in. Chances are if something is not flowing freely, it may not be the right time for that person to have that particular piece. Or, that piece may not even be for them. The same thing applies to receiving information for your self. If a piece isn’t making sense, let it go. If it is relevant, it will come back later with validation.

Is the information going to bring this person a sense of peace and expansion or is it going to bring them a sense of constrictive fear? If you feel the piece is important, first, see if you are injecting your own fears and filters into the information, change your approach and see if it comes in for you in a better non-fearful way.

Make sure that you are connecting energetically to the person FIRST before you begin relaying random bits of information. Feel their energy and then see if the information you are picking up feelslike it is for this person. This helps minimize any personal “filters” you may subconsciously put between yourself and the person you are reading for. Remember that we are allworking on our own issues and it can be easy to project things onto people that simply don’t belong there. It is important as you help others, to be continually working to remove your own blocks, fears and emotional issues. Have the awareness that you are a conduit, visualize a clear, uncluttered channel and then let the information be exchanged. The more the human ego is allowed to slip into the process, the more muddied the waters can become. Stepping aside, as much as possible, from the reading or energy work helps the flow from Spirit come in more freely (when it doesn’t have to bang up against your own personal issues). Sometimes even with good intentions, these things happen subconsciously. This of course doesn’t mean leaving your unique experiences, talents and personality OUT of the equation. Remember that what you bring to any situation istremendously valuable! People are drawn to each other at particular points on their path for a reason. We just may not be aware of those reasons until more and more pieces come in.

Sometimes we see things that are very sensitive for a client. Take a moment to ask if this information is for your awareness, only, so that you can gently help this person on their path of self discovery and healing. Again, connect energetically with the person, exercise a sense of humility, and ask to see your part for the highest good in helping release blocks and emotional pain.

All that being said, it seems like a lot of balls to balance in the air!
Remember to take the pressure off of yourself, enjoy the ride and let it just flow!
The path to expansion, though it has its bumps and bruises, is supposed to be FUN!
Keep it light hearted for yourself and those around you. The ability to laugh at your self comes in handy especially when you are going through some of the “harder” issues.

On the flip-side of the “deep and mysterious” experience of meeting someone’s spirit guide, and lest you get into a constricted state of fear about “getting it right”, let me relay one instance from my own life to bring more light heartedness and flow to this topic.
My son and I have always had kind of a “trivial psychic” channel open between us that seems to pop up in unexpected moments bringing a sense of fun to our relationship. 

One evening I sat on the bed flipping through a puzzle book. I began working on a logic puzzle whose topic was ART. Right as I began to work on this puzzle, David entered the room and diverted my attention, as I looked up at his face, the name “Gabriel” flashed into my head. My first LOGICAL thought was that it must have been his name in one of our many past lives together. Immediately I knew it didn’t fit, shrugged it off as a random, and began to tell him about the Art puzzle I was working on.

The very next morning as my son and I were catching up about his new college courses, he mentioned that his new Art Teacher’s name was “Gabriel”! 

If I had gone with the logic that David was Gabriel, we would have likely gone into some conversation trying to make that piece fit. It didn’t belong there, so I let it go. As I did, the pieces came in and made more sense. This was a way for the guides to keep things light and fluid (but we don’t always listen). They do this quite often even for the little things. Our guides like to have as much fun as we do and are constantly reminding us that the best way to be “IN FLOW” is to not be so hard on ourselves to get it right. That’s the key to connecting to your own intuition. When you catch yourself TRYING to make something fit, let it go. Again, the pieces will come back naturally when they’re ready to fit together.
